Anyone that drove across Roosevelt Bridge a little while back had to have seen those mischevous eyes on the "Connecticut Ave" sign over the bridge into the District. I loved seeing that on the way to work. Trying to figure out who it was. Wondering how the hell the street artist got up there and did his business without getting busted. Or killed. Everything about it was awesome. And then it got buffed after a few weeks of taunting.

Cut to last night as I was wrapping some of my breakables (packing to move into my new place!) with the Washington Post...and saw the eyes looking up at me. The artist's name is Borf. And he got busted (on the street, not high up on scaffolding.) The kid is only 18 and appartently has been having a helluva time tagging everything from signs, to mailboxes, garbage cans, and 15 foot walls in Dupont. He's made it as far west as San Fran and up to NYC with his art. And he got busted. Turns out Borf is a nickname he took on after his friend (the original Borf) killed himself. Rough.
So, this kid is more than a vandalizer. He's got a story. And a lot of his stuff is pretty cool. So, I hereby vow to read the paper next time, before I tear it up to use as wrapping paper.
