Beattie!

Beattie!

I know, I know. I have a lot of catching up to do. Wisconsin was grand, I will most likely never go back to Tennessee, and I feel like I live in the tropics with the weather we are having now that I am back in DC.
Random things that happened on my various trips this holiday:
*Air mattresses suck, no matter how cool your host says they are...and in my case, it was my mom, so who am I to argue...but man, it was god aweful.
*I love my dogs. I want to take them back with me and we can live together happily ever after.
*My parents are morphing into god aweful drivers...I feared for my life on more than one occasion and I think we are even now and I no longer deserve the, "I remember when I tought you to drive..." comments from the peanut gallery.
*Small Christmas trees just aren't the same as the big family tree you have growing up...and some ornaments really do need to be thrown out. Like the bagel santa you made in 2nd grade that looks the same now that you are 26, or the picture of you in brownies...chuck em already.
*Family parties really are a lot better when there is drinking involved. And Wisconsin has some interesting premixed concoctions that are "cool" to everyone but me...my favorite one is "Hot Sex," A mudslide with fake Frangelico added...
*Beatties should not buy stuff online. Because it's going to get messed up. Maybe that's only if you are a Beattie.
*Brothers will fight, give each other purple nurples, fart on each other, and cause a scene no matter how old they are...Doug and Donny are 24 and 20 and are still acting younger than the 4 and 6 year olds we had at the family party...it was great. My dad and uncle still fight out in public and they are 56 and 58...nice.
*Tennessee BLOWS. It may be music city. It may have the biggest, overdone hotel in the history of hotels (Gaylord Opryland?) and it may have a huge slew of Waffle Huts, but I will never be back. Although seeing my brother (#27) and meeting the coach and other players wat the Bowl was so cool. I hope Dah' keeps it up and sticks with it next year, it was a lot of fun.
*My dad has OCD...and it's getting worse...and I know it's going to hit me down the road, so I may as well stop drinking coffee so I don't check to see that it's unplugged 5 times when I leave the house, and stop lockign the door altogether so I don't have to check it 5 times before Ileave the house, etc. It's nuts!
*It's not a good idea to drink during a 4 hour delay in Tennessee...the flight attendants are grumpy too and appear to like threats. It was like Anger Management all over trying to get home to DC. I will never fly US Air again...they can go down in a blaze of glory without me.
And that's all I have about my travels. It feels good to be home.
