That What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger?

Is it true what they say, that spinach is one of the best things for you? The scare that has killed one believer in Wisconsin has me thinking I'd rather reach for a Snickers bar. What about salads that have spinach mixed in? If that's the case, I may be in for it. I had salad mix with spinach (and ruinned it with cheese and croutons) last night in order to be healthy. No more attempts at healthy living from me!

"We're telling people if they have bagged produce and they feel like it's a risk, throw it out," Michigan Department of Community Health spokesman T.J. Bucholz said. "If they feel like they have to eat it, wash it first in warm water."

Can you imagine being that hard up for spinach that you don't want to throw away a $3 bag so that you can risk the shits and possibly impending death (by spinach)? I guess the Darwin awards would go to anyone that actually thought about this and proceeded to eat it. I know my life is worth much more, even to the point of a $5 6pack.

Is this poop tainted batch of spinach Popeye's kryptonite? What a way to go.

Weed and Bourbon don't Mix

Ah...random musings brought to you by Beattie.
After spending my days with the crazy dog in Mount Vernon and at the pub for work, since Wednesday, I spent a relaxing night with my close to brand new bottle of Bulliet bourbon...so good. This seemed like a damn good idea, when I started.
The first Weeds dvd finally got to me via the zen like creatures at Netflix and I was pretty excited to watch it. It's a damn good show. I almost wish that I had Showtime, so I could keep up with the new ones. Nothing good is on HBO anyway and my DVR is lonely and looking for projects.
Three bourbons on the rocks later and I don't remember anything. I may have had more, but I think I was pretty much dead to the world at that point. The last scene on the dvd made me cry. It was that or the bourbon. I also woke up at 8:30 am in a bed without pillows or blankets. Laundry day was Friday and everything was in my living room.
My cell phone alarms went off for 2 hours and I didn't hear a damn thing. Who needs Ambien, when they can just get drunk. And have a horrible and well deserved hangover the next day?

A Place for the Special People in DC

What about this school doesn't scream, special?
I think this is a great addition to a sketchy part of DC. I know I'd want my retarded child to go to school by the Armory to a big BEAUTIFUL building like this. I wonder if they have any normal sized busses parked there, or just the short busses. Or do those kids take the metro?
