My dog was unbelievable. I became one of those obsessed people that always talks about them, takes them everywhere, takes pictures constantly, and talks about them like they are their best friend. She was the best of best friends. No back talk. Always there. Therapy wrapped up in fur.
My dog loved water, but hated baths. Apparently adding soap and warm water was foul play.
My dog loved anything that had to do with water outside. Swimming (she had her own pool), drinking from the hose, running through the sprinkler. She'd bark at the water if it was jet setting, like it was out to get her.
My dog loved being outside. Frisbees, tennis balls, even when we played basketball, she jumped in. She got in trouble digging in any season but winter and went nuts with the snow.
My dog loved to go for rides. As soon as there was a jingle of the keys she was out. She'd put her head out the window and her ears would flap. Just like in the movies.
My dog loved suckers. Dum Dums and twizzlers were her favorite. I have no clue how she had her first one, but it involved me laying on the ground eating candy (cause I'm a fat ass) and she came up and nudged me with her head. Her nose was right on me and I gave her the sucker and the rest is history. It's like the tootsie pop commercials. 2 licks and a chomp was all it took. Then she'd be gentle and lick the stick.
My dog once ate a 2 pound raw meatloaf that my mom left in the kitchen for 5 seconds.
My dog used to sleep under the footstool when she was a puppy. She'd graduate to sleeping behind our couch (and the wall) and under beds and desks.
My dog would come when she was called, but she'd do it when she wanted. We'd know she heard us because her tail would thump when we said her name.
My dog had the happiest tail I have ever seen. I think she was pretty damn happy.
My dog would scare random people and win them over in a matter of seconds. Neighbor kids came over to play with her all the time and I'd get jealous.
My dog was scared of the ironing board.
My dog shook hands both ways and knew the difference.
My dog waited for us every day after school at the front door. We could hear her barking a block away.
My dog slept on my bed every night. It was a twin and she was 65 pounds. I loved it. She'd lick my feet if they were out of the covers.
My dog became best buds and trained our new puppy. He did
everything she did.
My dog was the best at playing keep away. We teased her once and the rest is history.
My dog was a shadow to everyone when she wanted to be. She coined the name Ice princess, because she was a love on her terms, and bitchy as hell when she wanted. It was great. If only she could talk.
My dog liked having her leg scratched in one spot the best. She'd stretch it out for you if you got the right spot and that tail would thump. She hated it when you touched her paws.
My dog had the softest ears. The hair on her paws was just as soft, but forbidden territory unless she was sleeping.
My dog went to bed last and got up first. She waited until we were all home before she came and slept on my feet. She scratched at the door when she knew my dad was getting up for work.
My dog stayed with me all day and all night after I was held up. She was the best therapy I have ever seen. When we cried, she was there and stopped being an ice queen. When we were happy and laughing her tail would wag like you wouldn't believe.
My dog sat in the kitchen for hours every Thanksgiving/Christmas while my mom and dad cooked. She knew it was her day too if she waited long enough.
My dog was almost 12 years old and everyone in the family called her a puppy.
My dog was the best thing to happen to our family and she died yesterday.
I wasn't going to talk about her on my stupid blog. But honestly, talking about all of the things I love about my baby seems like the only thing I can do to show I love her. God truly blessed our home when we got Chip and I am so happy to know she had the best life a dog could get and that she changed us all for the better.
